Tell us about your business.

We design and create custom bridal, evening, and cocktail dresses. We also carry a variety of accessories for bridal and everyday.

How did you start your business and when?

We opened our store in the East Village in May of 2008. However the business has been in exisitence since I was a little girl. My mom, Faythe Dornink, started the business in her home almost 30 years ago. I grew up in the business. I went to school at FIT in NY and then moved home to build and expand the business with Faythe. We currently own the store together.

Why do you think customers should shop local?

We can provide custom design and fitting that is not offered at any large scale store. We love our customers and go out of our way to make sure they look amazing and are satisfied.

Does your business provide any special services for customers?

We alter just about any women’s wear.

Why did you choose the location you are currently at?

When scouting locations for our store, we loved the East Village. We love the old buildings and uniqueness of the area. It just seemed like a perfect fit.

What do you think sets you apart from other similar businesses?

There are few places in the mid-west that offer custom design. We are proud to have over 30 years of experience in this area.

What do you think the benefits are for having a brick and mortar shop opposed to just selling online?

For anyone who is a hands on person, its great to be able to see and feel the fabric. Plus it would be impossible to fit someone with out a store front. We are also working to expand our online presence and have developed a website that allows customers all over the world custom design their perfect dress. Our goal is offer the same service to the nation that we offer to our local customers.

Tell me about some of your favorite designs.

As a designer, I usually love anything new that I’ve designed and tend to get sick of the old stuff. But then someone will come in and try on an old style and I will be reminded of why I loved that one when it was first designed.

Is there anything else you’d like to say?
